Master Blaster, whose real name was Cornelius Oloya, was a Ugandan dancehall musician best known for his hit song Embooko. He gained popularity in Kampala's nightlife scene and frequently performed in local bars and clubs. His music, often controversial, led to a temporary ban on his performances by authorities due to explicit content.
Tragically, Master Blaster was shot and killed in a bar altercation in Bwaise, a suburb of Kampala, in December 2015. The incident occurred during a scuffle between Ugandan youth and South Sudanese partygoers at a local pub. Reports suggest he was shot twice in the stomach during police intervention. He was later taken to Mulago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead .
His funeral was marked by sorrow and controversy, as he was buried under torchlight due to financial constraints
