Kid Fox, whose real name is Kiggundu Steven, is a Ugandan dancehall musician known for his positive and inspirational music. Although he has been associated with gospel music, he insists that his music is not strictly gospel but rather uplifting and soulful.
He began his music career in 1991 while attending Wairaka College, where he started as a rap artist inspired by international hip-hop acts like Vanilla Ice and MC Turbo B. In 1994, he transitioned to dancehall, drawing influence from artists such as Buju Banton, Red Fox, Mad Cobra, and Chaka Demus & Pliers.
By 1995, Kid Fox was performing alongside artists like Shanks Vividee at major venues in Uganda, including Lugogo Indoor Stadium and the Sheraton Ballroom. His debut album Watoto (2000) did not gain much attention, leading him to take a break from music and pursue his education at Makerere University.
In 2005, he made a comeback with songs like Brothers and Sisters, Love is a Good Feeling, and Fed Up. His most notable album, Zinunula (2007), gained popularity with tracks like Luganda Ne Mikwano, Kukiriza, and Uganda. His music blends dancehall, reggae, and Afro-pop, often incorporating English, Luganda, Swahili, and Jamaican patois.
